home poetry calling (manga reading list)

Souma YukiTitle comes from one of those random word/picture associations included in The Blue Day Notebook by Bradley Trevor Greive (© 2003 Bradley Trevor Greive). It wasn’t actually home poetry come a-knockin’ but this poor, neglected blog.

So updating.

From my friendly neighborhood animanga and dorama library (boy, am I glad they’re around b/c as you know, anime: crack is cheaper), borrowed the following manga:

Due 2006.02.19

  • Beauty is the Beast volume 2 by Matsumoto Tomo (VIZ Shojo Beat) READ
  • Hana-Kimi volume 9 by Nakajo Hisaya (VIZ Shojo) READ
  • Hana-Kimi volume 7 by Nakajo Hisaya (VIZ Shojo) READ

I actually have Hana-Kimi 7 in my own library and have read it ^^;; — does this mean it was *that* forgettable?? But for whatever reason, I am invested in Hana-Kimi and depending on how tankoubon 2 of Beauty is the Beast turns out, that series will also (most likely) join my list of manga emotional investments.

Due 2005.02.23

  • The Devil Does Exist volume 1 by Takanashi Mitsuba (CMX) READ
  • The Devil Does Exist volume 2 by Takanashi Mitsuba (CMX) READ
  • The Devil Does Exist volume 3 by Takanashi Mitsuba (CMX) READ

Borrowed these three because I was intrigued by the back blurb. I’m hoping this series will take – the art is not actually my type (there’s this vague resemblance to Nanaji Nagamu-sensei’s Parfait~Tic, but…) And based on my experience, reads chosen for the promo copy almost always disappoint, more times than those please-suspend-disbelief tomes that have produced the most investment-worthy characters of my acquaintance.

This is only a partial list; there are more bought-but-haven’t-gotten-to-them reads in my teetering TBR pile b/c Kami-sama, I need just a little more time… ::groans::)
